HOBBY STOCK RULES

THOSE ITEMS NOT ADDRESSED IN THE FOLLOWING MUST REMAIN STOCK AS PRODUCED BY THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER

1. BODY

Any American made car from 1967 to present.  Wheelbase must be factory stock.  No tolerance.  No subcompact cars.  Rack and pinion cars must be factory stock parts only.  If chassis is altered or steering parts are not in stock location – it’s not legal.  All uni-body cars must be tied together.  Must have a complete factory stock floor pan and firewall.  Trunk area may be cut no further forward than pinion of rear end.  Seat must remain on drivers side. 

Complete stock bodies and frame for that year model.  Stock floorboards, rear fender wells and firewall.  Body must look factory stock, may use sheet metal or aluminum on doors and fenders.  Bumpers may be square tubing – must run inner rub rail – minimum size 1 ½” round tubing on rear bumper.  Spoiler must not exceed 6” in height.  Two braces allowed, one at each end and cannot exceed 6” in length.  Spoiler must not be wider than trunk lid.  Fenders and rear fender wells may be cut out for tire clearance, must maintain inner fender well that attaches to floor pan.

Must have factory stock OEM frame front to rear. (May be tied together) DRIVE SHAFT LOOP OR CHAIN IS MANDATORY.  6” BACK FROM FRONT U JOINT – DRIVE SHAFT AND LOOP MUST BE PAINTED WHITE.

All weights must be added in the form of roll bars or solid weights painted white and securely fastened with two ½” bolts, to eliminate hazardous conditions.  Failure to have your cars weight securely fastened is grounds for disqualification or position penalty at the discretion of the tech official.  No weights can be mounted above bottom of window opening.

Hood and trunk must be pinned or hinged.  Stock steel hood or fiberglass hoods are allowed.  Factory trunk lid or stock appearing aftermarket trunk lid. 

All doors must be secured to body.  Roofs must remain stock. (NO CHOP TOPS)

All cars must have front dash in stock location (SHEET METAL ONLY).  Rear firewall must extend from bottom of rear window to bottom of floor pan.  Holes in firewall must be covered with metal or aluminum.  Enclosed interiors are allowed.

All glass must be removed, including head and taillights.  No rear view mirrors allowed.

NO NERF BARS

Factory gauges may be removed.  All flammable interior (carpet, head liner, interior side panel, etc.) must be removed.  Wiring harness may be removed and replaced.  You must have a 12 volt ignition system.

Quick steer and steering wheel couplers are allowed.  Steering remains in stock position.

2. WEIGHT: 3,200 lbs.

3. ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN

#1 spark plug must be lined up with or forward of left ball joint.

ANY MANUAL TRANSMISSION MUST HAVE 360 DEGREE EXPLOSION PROOF STEEL BELL HOUSING. 

Engine must be stock production.  Factory blocks only.  GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Dodge to Dodge.  Flat top or dished pistons, NO domes.  No bowtie or aluminum blocks.  Casting numbers must be readable by tech official.  No 400 blocks.  Maximum cubic inch displacement to include clearance and wear is 360 for GM, 363 for Ford, and 370 for Mopar.  All others must not exceed 370 CID.  NO STROKNG OR DESTROKING.

INTAKES: Any production cast iron intake, bow tie cast iron intake, or any aluminum dual plane intake without air gaps are allowed.  No porting of the heads or gasket matching of intake or heads.  Intake may not be reworked under carburetor area.  Carburetor spacer no taller than 1 ½” allowed.

CARBURETORS: 4412 Holley 2 barrel or stock factory carbs. 2 barrel only and must pass inspection from top side with gauge.  Bottom throttle plate hole 1 11/16”  - Top 1 3/8”.  Factory style HEI distributors.  No remote coils on GM distributors.  

NO onboard electronic devices capable of storing information allowed with the exception of recall Tachometers.

No aftermarket electronic amplifying devices allowed.

Hydraulic cam shafts only.  No flat tappet cams or mushroom cams.  No roller hydraulic cams

Heads must be stock OEM production only.  No aftermarket heads.  Casting number must be readable by tech official.  2.02 – 1.60 valves in GM is the largest size allowed.  No aluminum heads or angle plug heads excluding Ford and Dodge.  Aftermarket valve springs, roller rockers, and screw in studs allowed 

Headers are legal.

Factory stock automatics or standard transmissions are allowed.  Must use stock appearing clutch disc and pressure plates on steel flywheels only.  Stock type factory torque converters required on all automatics.  Drivers must be able to put car in gear from park/neutral and move forward and reverse at time of inspection

TIRES, WHEELS, SUSPENSION

Any asphalt pull off, must durometer 55 or greater.  Grooving and siping is allowed

Steel racing wheels only.  Maximum width is 10”.  Right rear bead lock recommended.  ½” thread studs and 1” lug nuts MANDATORY.

Racing springs allowed on front and rear.  Adjustable/cheater weight jacks on front only.  Rear springs must use stock upper spring pads in stock location.

Racing shocks allowed, must mount in stock location.  Heim mounted shocks allowed.  Must have 3 or 4 wheel brakes, valve must be in engine compartment.  Aftermarket brake pedals and master cylinders are allowed.  Rear suspensions must mount up factory stock.  NO alterations.  All control arms must mount up in stock positions.  No aftermarket control arms.  No Johnny joints.  Any stock American made car or ½ ton truck rear ends allowed.  All cars must remain on stock suspension for the car that it is under.  Floater Rear-ends Allowed.

A 9” Ford housing is highly recommended.  GM rear ends MUST have axle retention. (C-Clip eliminators)
